At the 2nd International Symposium on Peking Opera Symposium organized by the Chinese Opera Academy in 2007, a long essay on “Building a Good Literature Base for Peking Opera Studies - Outline of Peking Opera Philology” caught my attention. This article comprehensively and systematically elaborates the definition, research object and development vision of Peking Opera literature study, and gets the high recognition from insiders and outsiders. The author originally thought that those who could make this “big piece of paper” should have a profound academic scholar or at least a middle-aged scholar who knows that they are Gu Shuguang, a young scholar at Renmin University of China.
