Objective To study the effects of selenium-enriched yeast on blood lipid levels and antioxidation in male rats with hyperlipidemia. Methods Hyperlipidemia model was established by feeding high fat diet to male SD rats. The successful rats were randomly divided into intervention group, model control group and control group with selenium doses of 0.83 and 8.33 μg / kg, Intervention 60 d. The model control group and the blank control group were given the same dose of normal saline. On the 20th, 40th and 60th days after intervention, blood samples were collected from the eyes and the total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and low density lipoprotein Cholesterol (LDL-C) levels were measured. After 60 days of experiment intervention, rats were fasted for 12 hours, blood was taken from the eye, and superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH- Px) and total antioxidant (T-AOC) levels. The same group of different levels of blood lipid levels using repeated measures of variance analysis, the same period different groups of blood lipid levels by one-way ANOVA and LSD-t test. Results At the 20th, 40th and 60th day of intervention, the level of serum TC, LDL-C and TG in the intervention group and the level of TG in the intervention group at 8.33μg / kg were significantly lower than those in the model control group P <0.05). At the 60th day of intervention, the serum levels of TC and LDL-C in the intervention group (3.06 ± 0.38 and 0.99 ± 0.14 mmol / L, respectively) were significantly lower than those in the model control group [(3.46 ± 0.70) and (1.11 ± 0.16) mmol / L, respectively], the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). On the 60th day of intervention, serum levels of T-AOC, GSH, SOD and serum GSH and SOD in the intervention group were significantly higher than those in the model control group (P <0.05) ). Conclusion The appropriate amount of yeast selenium can reduce the level of blood lipids in male SD hyperlipidemic rats, and has antioxidant capacity.
