一九八四年九月六日十六时左右,大冶铁矿矿区阴天有小雨。黄石大理石厂象鼻山,在142米标高采场作业的一位民工,在规定放炮时间前撤离工作面,向安全地点避炮。途中,在跨越矿山简易公路上的风管时,被雷击中身亡。距死者前1.5米处的另一民工,刚跨过风管,就听到一声雷响,顿时感到头部被什么东西猛击了一下,全身麻木,待清醒后,发现后边民工已死,立即下山报信。通过检查发现死者脖子后右肩背上被雷击中。
