There are two genotypes in Barbarea vulgaris:the glabrous type (G-type),which confers resistance to diamondback moth (DBM) and many other insect pests, and the pubescent type (P-type),which is susceptible to DBM.In present study, the transcriptomes of G- and P-type B.vulgaris before and after DBM infest were pyrosequenced using Illumina (Solexa).A total of 9.5 and 5.0 giga base pairs of clean nucleotides were generated from G- and P-type plants and further constructed into two transcriptomes containing 39,531 and 33,721 non-redundant unigenes respectively.
