Generation of new allelic combinations is conditioned by the rate of homologous recombination through crossovers (COs) during the first meiosis division in F1 hybrids. But crossovers are subject to stringent controls as typically no more than one or two are formed between homologous chromosomes. However,in Brassica napus (AACC,2n=38),we can boost the homologous recombination between A genomes in AAC hybrids.Different hypotheses can be proposed to explain this boost:the number of C univalent chromosomes or the nature of the univalent chromosomes.
