汉语景教文典在对《圣经》的翻译上采用了以变译为手段、以归化为目的的策略。这是由景教在唐代宗教、政治、文化多元系统中的边缘地位和翻译主体的文化立场所决定的。景教的翻译策略与最终的译文效果形成了一个悖论:只有通过“归化”才能使景教获得生存空间;而附会于儒释道最终使景教丧失了立身之本。这一悖论深刻折射出基督教文明在中华文化语境中传播时面临的艰难与困惑。
The Chinese Nestorian Cultures adopted a strategy of translating as a means and naturalization for the translation of the Bible. This is determined by the marginal position of Nestorianism in the religious, political and cultural pluralism of Tang Dynasty and the cultural position of the main body of translation. Nestorian translation strategy and the final translation effect formed a paradox: Only by “naturalization” in order to enable Nestorian living space; and attached to the Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism eventually make Nestorian lost its foundation. This paradox profoundly reflects the difficulties and confusion faced by Christian civilization when it is spread in the Chinese cultural context.
