Tyco Electronics Introduces New Circuit Protection Type PolySwitch TSM 600-250, a small, low-impedance surface-mount package that provides high-density overcurrent protection for DSL and other communications network equipment. The TSM 600-250 PPTC (poly positive temperature coefficient) components, which are matched with each other in resistance, are respectively connected in series on the tip and ring lines to eliminate the influence of the resistance on the two-wire balance and improve the data transmission rate. Compared to conventional SMT communication fuses, the TSM 600-250 components react quickly and provide protection even under low current faults. In addition, the TSM 600-250 components can also help to coordinate primary and secondary overvoltage protection components, reducing the amount of energy lost during fault conditions, without compromising the ability of the network equipment to withstand lightning strikes.
