在无溶剂和有氧气下,Pt(PPh_3)_4或 Pt(O_2)(PPh_3)_2对α-烯烃与三乙氧基硅烷的硅氢化反应具有很高催化活性,但在惰性气氛下活性明显下降。在上述反应中这两种铂络合物的催化行为十分相似,Pt(PPh_3)_4的催化作用可能是在反应过程中转变为Pt(O_2)(PPh_3)_2而实现的。反应温度60℃是较合适的。在90℃时催化剂失活,反应速度急剧降低;在30℃,反应在前期阶段进行很慢,有较长的诱导期。
