The Permian Basin is the main exploration target in the western part of Poland: the Cheyenne porous sandstone and two magnesian carbonate formations are the most important reservoirs. Each sedimentary system includes different lithofacies that interconnect with each other to form a trap / reservoir and cap assemblage. Complex traps composed of tectonic and lithofacies units often give rise to higher exploration risks. Paleo-tectonic analysis based on 3D seismic data provides an opportunity to improve interpretation and significantly reduce exploration and development drilling risks. Although there is no direct paleogeographic information in the 3D seismic data, we can recover the process of palaeogeography and tectonic development by leveling the seismic profile and making the corresponding map.
