后殖民理论家霍米·巴巴的文化翻译理论是一种文化存活策略,其目的是给每一种特殊的语言传统或文化文本以自己的空间。巴巴在《文化的定位》中阐述了文化翻译的问题,巴巴认为“矛盾状态”给文化协商和抵制霸权提供了可能性,而“模拟”和“混杂性”是被殖民者反抗权威的重要手段和抵抗形式,“第三空间”则是建构起新的身份符号,及合作和斗争的创新场所。虽然巴巴的文化翻译理论存在一定的局限性,但在日益全球化的今天,它对我们如何理智对待民族主义和全球化及构建中国文化身份具有积极的意义。
Homily Baba’s post-colonial theorist’s theory of cultural translation is a cultural survival strategy whose purpose is to give each particular language’s traditional or cultural text its own space. Baba elaborated the issue of cultural translation in “the orientation of culture”. Baba considered “paradoxical state” as a possibility for cultural negotiation and boycotting hegemony, and “analogy” and “mixedness” The important means of resistance against authority and the form of resistance, the “third space” is an innovative place for constructing a new identity symbol and for cooperation and struggle. Although Baba’s theory of cultural translation has its own limitations, in today’s increasingly globalized world, Baba has positive significance on how to treat nationalism and globalization rationally and to build Chinese cultural identity.
