The 1815-ft (567-meter) communications tower of the Toronto National Railways is the tallest free-standing building in the world. The main structural feature of the tower is that its foundation and most of the superstructure are prestressed in situ. The superstructure with a height of 1450 呎 (442 m) is a concrete tower with a Y-shaped cross-section and is tapered upwards. The main part of the tower was used from June 1973 to February 1974, and the sliding mode was used for about eight months. Pouring completed. In the summer of 1974, a seven-story high-altitude pod was added to the main tower to serve as a place for observing work, restaurant and equipment broadcasting services. The main structure supporting the high-altitude pods is a set of twelve cantilevered concrete walls arranged in a radial pattern. These walls are initially connected together with stress steel reinforcement and the tower body poured by the slipform, when the wall is poured. Re-use post-tensioned rings
