The application of porcine hepatocyte growth factor (HOF) in the treatment of CCl_4 induced acute liver injury in mice and D-galactosamine induced fulminant hepatic failure (FHF) in rats. The results showed that HGF can rapidly reduce transaminase (ALT) levels in mice with acute liver injury, similar to that of bifendate. Repairing liver damage is superior to biphenyl diester. In the HFH rats, the survival rate was 47.8% at 30 days and only 17.3% in the saline group (P<0.05). In addition to promoting the regeneration of hepatocytes, the efficacy of HGF may be related to the stimulation of the body’s immune status and the nucleic acids contained in the preparations and trace elements such as Zn and Se.
