An important discovery disclosed in the 1982 US News and World Report has attracted great public attention. Of the top 500 companies in the United States, 115 have been charged with at least one major crime or fined for misconduct in the last ten years. The 25 largest companies in the United States (with annual sales between $15 billion and $108 billion) have a higher percentage of recorded misconduct than other companies.
