Objective: To investigate the relationship between serum uric acid and blood lipids, blood glucose and blood pressure in patients with ischemic cerebrovascular diseases in Uygur and Han ethnic groups in China and understand the status of uric acid in the pathogenesis of cerebrovascular diseases in different ethnic groups. Methods: From June 2006 to June 2008, Uygur (Uighur) and Han patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disease and hyperuricemia admitted to Department of Neurology, Second Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University, (Hyperuricemia, HUA), blood lipids, blood glucose and blood pressure measurements. Results: Compared with non-hyperuricemia group, serum total cholesterol (TG), triglyceride (TC), serum low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) were higher in hyperuricemia group than those in control group, but fasting blood glucose (FBS), serum high density lipoprotein cholesterol ) Level had no statistical significance. Serum uric acid was closely related to TG, TC, LDL, SBP and DBP, but no correlation with FBS and HDL-C, no matter Uygur or Han nationality. Conclusion: Serum lipids and blood pressure abnormalities in patients with hyperuricemia with ischemic cerebrovascular disease are higher than those with normal uric acid, but there is no significant difference between Uygur and Han nationality. Therefore, hyperuricemia both Uygur and Han as cerebrovascular disease can be another relevant factor in the comprehensive measures to prevent cerebrovascular disease can not be ignored.
