马蒂斯是一位富于创造性的绘画大师,一生创造了大量杰出作品,其中包括油画、壁画、雕塑、插图、剪纸等。他不以一种服从的方式模仿自然,而是解释自然,并使它顺从绘画的精神。他发展了东方绘画平面观念及装饰因素,放弃了焦点透视,狂热地追求表现画家的内心世界和主观情感。他的绘画,不但表现了客观事物的本质与生命,同时也表现了画家本人的心灵和个性。马蒂斯为20世纪现代艺术做出了极其重要的贡献。
Matisse, a creative master of painting, has created a large number of outstanding works throughout his life, including oil paintings, murals, sculptures, illustrations, paper cuttings and more. Instead of imitating nature in a submissive way, he interprets nature and obeys the spirit of painting. He developed the oriental painting concept of plane and decorative elements, abandoned the focus of perspective, fanatical pursuit of the performance of the painter’s inner world and subjective feelings. His paintings not only show the essence and life of objective things, but also show the artist’s own heart and personality. Matisse made an extremely important contribution to the modern art of the 20th century.
