The latest report published by the World Bank predicts economic growth in developing countries will reach 2.7% in 1999 and 4.2% in 2000. As crisis countries begin to recover after reaching the bottom of a recession, growth in Asia will be strong for the next two years, but still far below the historical average, despite continued high growth in China and India. The World Bank Annual Report 2000 “Global Economic Prospects and Developing Countries 2000” with the theme of forecasting the economic prospects of developing countries believes that the recovery after the financial crisis is “fragile and unstable” and the recovery speed in some areas far exceeds other areas.
