近年,在内蒙古河套地区等向日葵主要产区向日葵螟危害严重,给当地向日葵产业造成严重损失。在多年研究的基础上,基于向日葵不同品种和不同栽培模式,对多个单项防治技术进行集成,形成了一套完全不使用化学杀虫剂的向日葵螟绿色防控技术体系。经过2008~2012年间的大面积推广应用,在内蒙古巴彦淖尔市、鄂尔多斯市、黑龙江齐齐哈尔市以及宁夏石嘴山市8个县(区、旗)39个乡(镇)67个村,建立示范区面积共计7 477 hm2,向日葵螟的平均防效达95%以上,技术辐射面积50万hm2以上。在巴彦淖尔市技术覆盖率达到90%。有效控制了向日葵螟的危害。
