Environmental interferences on male reproductive toxicity is a research hotspot. Bisphenol A (BPA) is a type of environmental estrogen that is associated with male reproductive health and other diseases such as diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease and cancer. BPA may interfere with the human endocrine system through the action of estrogen or anti-androgen, such as interfering with the hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular axis, regulating the expression and enzyme activity of hormone synthesis related genes, affecting hormones and their receptor functions, etc., DNA methylation, epigenetic effects and other means, causing spermatogenic disorders, oligozoospermia and other lead to male infertility. This article reviews the toxic effects of BPA exposure on male spermatogenesis, semen quality and reproductive endocrine system.
