Of these, about 52 Mt is from elemental sulfur [about half of sulfur is recovered from oil refining and natural gas processing and only 1% from natural mining (mainly Poland)], 22 Mt from sulfuric acid from non-ferrous smelter flue gas, 6.5 Mt from pyrite Mine roasting (almost all in China).
