五讲四美活动,是在社会主义精神文明作为一个突出任务提出后出现的新事物。自去年二月末由全国九团体倡议,中央五部门支持推向全国后,至今不过一年半光景。它发生和发展的时间是短暂的,但它的作用和效果却超出了预料。今年的全民文明礼貌月作了一次检阅,人民群众和广大青年拥护和欢迎这件事情,党、政府、社会各界支持、赞助这件事情,其存在价值已为世所公认。一件事情一年半就出现这样的局面,这本身说明了它所具有的强大生命力。去年我们还只要求在城市、主要在大中城市开展,今年各地积极解决“五讲四美下乡”问题已见成效,整个活动目前正以方兴未艾的势头,向全国城乡推进。 The five stresses, the four beautiful activities are new things that emerge after the socialist spiritual civilization has been put forward as a prominent task.
