随着计算机技术的迅猛发展,IA架构图形工作站的性能早已今非昔比,无论在计算速度、图形处理还是数据存储方面,今天的图形工作站都取得了非凡的成就。但是,在各种新技术不断涌现的情况下我们仍然发现,从整体系统角度看,目前的产品性能仍然存在若干技术瓶颈,图形加速接口就属于其中一个。AGP8X规范自2000年被Intel提出后,在众多厂商的支持下经过两年多的完善现在终于走向成熟,到了实际应用的阶段。本文将从AGP技术的发展历程、AGP8X的技术特点以及它对图形工作站性能的提升等方面加以阐述,从而让读者对这一新技术有一个比较深刻的认识。为了让工作站用户对AGP8X技术有进一步的认识并方便他们的选购,文章最后以国内某一工作站厂家的图形方案为例对具体的产品加以介绍,希望能够对大家有益。
With the rapid development of computer technology, the performance of IA-based graphics workstations has long since shrank. Today’s graphics workstations have achieved remarkable success in terms of computing speed, graphics processing and data storage. However, with the emergence of various new technologies, we still find that there are still some technical bottlenecks in the current product performance from the overall system perspective, and the graphics acceleration interface belongs to one of them. After AGP8X specification was proposed by Intel in 2000, after more than two years of improvement with the support of many vendors, it is now finally becoming mature, reaching the stage of practical application. This article will elaborate on the development of AGP technology, the technical features of AGP8X and its performance improvement of graphics workstations so that readers will have a profound understanding of this new technology. In order to allow workstation users to further understand the AGP8X technology and facilitate their purchase, the article concludes with a graphic project of a workstation manufacturer in China as an example to introduce a specific product and hopes to benefit everyone.
