A notable feature of the post-war Latin American economic development is that the industrial sector has been continuously expanding. The development of the automobile manufacturing industry is particularly prominent. From 1955 to 1973, the automobile output in Latin America increased from 60,000 to 1.5 million, an increase of 25 times. The rising output has made Latin America a rising position in the world’s automobile manufacturing industry. In 1950, the production of Latin American cars only accounted for 0.2% of the world’s production of automobiles, up from 4.6% in 1975. Brazilian car production in Latin America’s largest car producer increased from 96,000 vehicles in 1959 to 1,062,000 in 1978; Argentina’s production increased from 5,943 in 1956 to nearly 180,000 in 1978; and from 1960’s More than 55,000 vehicles rose to more than 384,000 vehicles in 1978.
