1999年3月24日“闽燃供2”油轮与“东海209”油轮发生碰撞并溢油500多吨,造成珠江口部分水域、岸线严重污染,使珠海市水产养殖业和旅游业蒙受重大经济损失。该特大油污染事故原因现已查明:在大雾能见度不良的情况下,“闽燃供2”轮疏忽了望,操作不当,是造成事故的主要责任方;两船在狭水道中航行,均没有使用安全航速和按规定施放雾号,以及“闽燃供2”轮船长没有上驾驶台亲自指挥航行,是造成事故的另一个原因。
