In this paper, we introduce the approximation of large horizontal offset and large vertical offset in the improved Cagniard method for synthetic seismograms in horizontal stratigraphic stratigraphic models. The above two kinds of approximation methods can be applied to decompose various generalized ray components of seismic motion. For results for horizontal offsets, this result is known in seismological literature and the article gives a simple derivation. The results given in this paper are new about the large vertical offsets that have special significance for vertical seismic profiles. Compared with the full three-dimensional Cagniard method, the application of the horizontal and vertical large-offset approximation methods can greatly reduce the computational time of synthetic seismograms.
