Objective To analyze the expression of HER2 and p53 in chronic gastritis, precancerous lesions and gastric adenocarcinoma and to explore its role in the development of gastric adenocarcinoma. Methods SP immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of HER2 and p53 protein in chronic gastritis (102 cases), gastric dysplasia (158 cases, 102 cases of low-grade dysplasia, 56 cases of high-grade dysplasia) and 152 cases of gastric adenocarcinoma (152 cases) In the expression, analysis of their correlation and clinicopathological significance. Results Immunohistochemical results showed that HER2 and p53 were negative in chronic gastritis. The positive rates of HER2 in gastric mucosal low-grade dysplasia, high-grade dysplasia and gastric adenocarcinoma were 3.92%, 28.57% and 44.09%, respectively. The positive rates of p53 were 0%, 33.93% and 50.66% respectively. The expression of HER2 and p53 in low-grade dysplasia, high-grade dysplasia and gastric adenocarcinoma showed an increasing trend (all P <0.001). There was a positive correlation between the expression of HER2 and p53 in high-grade dysplasia and gastric adenocarcinoma (r = 0.465 and 0.505, P <0.001). Conclusion HER2 and p53 play an important role in the development of gastric adenocarcinoma.
