Gaia Marquez, master of magical realism and Nobel Prize-winning literary journalist, said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper “Pioneer” in Barcelona that he had sealed the pen—at least temporarily. The news spread, Marquez Fans around the world is very sad. The nearly 80-year-old Colombian writer admitted that the past year of 2005 was the first time that he had not even written a single line of words. He even said: “I have no prospect in writing.” This contrasted with the confession that he “nothing in the world could make me more loved” more than 20 years ago! Tired, or is the master’s creativity fading? Marquez once said: “To live in order to tell life, life is not a person’s experience, but his memory.” And the childhood that passed away is exactly his memory of heaven.
