For the first time, Oliver-Gonzales (1954) reported that the oocyst reaction (COP) has been widely used in the experimental diagnosis and epidemiological field investigation of schistosomiasis because of its low equipment requirement and high specificity . Immunochemically, COP has been shown to be an antigen-antibody complex in precipitates. Lyophilized eggs or high temperature treated eggs still maintain the reactivity of the COP response.
