Some high-molecular-weight drugs or some fat-insoluble drugs can not penetrate the blood-brain barrier and thus can not have a therapeutic effect on central nervous system tumors or CNS infectious diseases. If a drug can reversibly open the blood-brain barrier and facilitate the entry of drugs into the central nervous system, it is undoubtedly important for the treatment of central nervous system diseases. Liposomes are promising drug carriers. If liposome-embedded drugs can effectively penetrate the blood-brain barrier, they will improve the therapeutic effect on tumors of the central nervous system or other diseases in the brain.
