“Out of school” and “out of school” have always been a major problem in popularizing compulsory education in poor areas. In order to explore a way of helping students from “blood transfusion” to “blood-building” function, we will fund the work-study activities of primary and secondary schools in poverty-stricken rural areas of Yunnan Province, and establish a sustainable development mechanism for work-study out of school to create equal acceptance for school-age children of poor families. The opportunity of compulsory education promotes the development of compulsory education in impoverished areas. In June 2004, the US “Ford Foundation” assisted 150,000 U.S. dollars, and the Yunnan Education Department and the “Ford Foundation” were located in Chuxiong, Nanhua, and Jixian. Puer County’s 20 primary schools have implemented work-study programs. After more than two years of hard work, we achieved gratifying results.
