To investigate the effect of M235T polymorphism of angiotensinogen (AGT) gene on hypertension in patients with NIDDM. Methods The frequency of M235 and T235 of AGT gene M235T and the genotypes of TT, TM and MM were examined by restriction endonuclease analysis in the normal control group (68 cases), diabetic non-hypertensive group (104 cases) and diabetic hypertension (87 cases) in the distribution, and check the genotype on the impact of experimental subjects blood pressure levels. Results The T235 frequency of M235T polymorphism of AGT gene was significantly higher in diabetic hypertensive patients than in control subjects and diabetic non-hypertensive subjects. TT genotype in diabetic hypertensive group was significantly higher than the control group and diabetic non-hypertensive group. TT genotypes were significantly higher than the trapped pressure and diastolic blood pressure in TM and MM genotypes. Conclusions The TT and AG genotypes of TT genotypes with AGT polymorphism are significantly higher than those with TM and TT genotypes. T235 mutation of M235T polymorphism of angiotensinogen gene is a risk factor of NIDDM complicated with hypertension.
