唐代以前有关火灾的诗作很少,中晚唐诗坛出现了多首专题关注城市民居和寺庙火灾的诗作,标志着火灾题材诗歌的初步确立。宋代火灾诗比前代显著增多,广泛深入地反映了火灾带来的严重灾难和精神伤害,开辟了政治批判、劝世讽世等诸多主题取向;在纪实的基础上,较多引入神魔形象和戏谑、反讽笔调,显著拓展了火灾诗的内容和写法,将火灾题材的诗歌创作推向日渐成熟的境地。唐宋火灾诗的发展为诗坛增添了新的题材类型和艺术形象,丰富了古典诗歌的表现领域和审美内涵,是中国诗歌走向繁荣的一个侧面,同时还积淀了丰富的传统消防文化思想,彰显了古人的防火救灾精神。
