In our hospital from 1991 to 1995 a total of 480 cases of primary liver cancer (hereinafter referred to as liver cancer) patients were treated, including 456 cases of advanced liver cancer, accounting for 95%, only 24 cases of early liver cancer, accounting for 5%. Among them, 320 were surgical resections, accounting for 66.7% (including 122 cases of palliative resection, accounting for 38.1%). It can be seen that a considerable part of liver cancer patients have lost the chance of surgical resection. In order to prolong the survival time of these patients and improve the quality of life of patients with advanced liver cancer, 120 patients who failed to undergo surgical resection were treated with selective hepatic artery embolization chemotherapy and portal vein pump chemotherapy, and achieved good results. The so-called selective hepatic artery embolization is to embolize only the local hepatic artery, rather than to embolize the proper hepatic artery. The report is as follows.
