By June 2001, there were already 26.5 million Internet users nationwide. Only 3.08 million Internet users appeared in Beijing, equivalent to one out of three Beijingers regularly visiting the Internet. No wonder, according to the information from the National Bureau of Statistics, the overall index of informatization in Beijing is now the highest in the country.
