一块化石就是一段历史,拥有几亿年前的化石无疑是一个国 家的幸事。然而,一些不法之徒却时时觊觎着这些不会说话的珍 贵财富,妄图据为己有,谋取私利。 2005年11月1日,轰动全国的“11·1特大古生物化石走私案” 在金华市中级人民法院公开开庭审理。一年前,中国海关查获了 这起中国最大的化石走私案,将2925件险些被走私到海外的珍贵 化石(其中国家三级文物以上化石662件)牢牢堵截在国门。
A fossil is a piece of history. Having fossils hundreds of millions of years ago is undoubtedly a national blessing. However, some lawbreakers are often ignoring these precious treasures that they can’t talk about. They try their best to be selfish and seek personal gain. On November 1, 2005, the “11. 1 Extraordinary Paleontological Fossil Smuggling Case” that caused a sensation throughout the country was openly heard in the Intermediate People’s Court of Jinhua City. A year ago, China Customs seized the largest case of fossil smuggling in China and locked 2,939 pieces of precious fossils that were smuggled overseas (of which 662 were fossils above the national three-grade cultural relics).
