Traditional translation studies either proceed from the relationship between the translation and the original or from the translator’s cultural attitudes, but all neglect the existence of readers, the subject of text acceptance. This paper draws lessons from the related theories of aesthetics accepted in literary theory and probes into the phenomena and characteristics related to “readers’ concern ” in the history of translation from the reader’s point of view.
