京师大学堂师范馆图书楼始建于1922年,当时由法国、丹麦、美国、德国联合建造,具有典型的民国时期的建筑风格特征。在此后的百年之间,建筑历经多次改造、加固,功能由图书馆变为餐馆、宾馆等。在接手该项目时,建筑即将变为一个书画美术馆。建筑外部基本还保留着一百年前的样子,但内部在不断的改建之中几乎完全丧失了原有性格。因此这次美术馆改造的基本出发点就是最大限度地“抢救”可能的历史建筑痕迹,用减法去除那些不必要的装饰,采取有限的改造策略兼顾保护与实用功能,使得新
Founded in 1922, the library of the Beijing Normal University Normal Hall was jointly built by France, Denmark, the United States and Germany and features typical architectural features of the Republic of China.
