Drebett, an applied linguistics expert, once said: “Students can not learn a language without making mistakes.” In primary school English classes, students often make some mistakes in their oral communication with teachers or classmates. Facing the students’ mistakes, some teachers can not tolerate the students’ mistakes. Any mistakes must be swirled. The ruthless sword of “mistakes must be rectified” severely hampers the enthusiasm of students’ oral communication and affects the fluency of their expression. It may also hurt students’ self-esteem and reduce their interest in learning English, which is very bad for teaching. Some teachers pick up the gentle knife “letting go”, failing to correct the mistakes of the students in a timely manner, is likely to lead to the phenomenon of petrification.
