The quick installation and cost savings were the deciding factors that prompted a U.S. company to pioneer the use of an underground safety hoist at a gold mine in Colorado. Although the Cotter Schwartwalder mine has reduced its mining work from 30.4 meters to 335 meters over the past 30 years, the company still decided to drill down to 579 meters within a distance of 365 meters from the main shaft.
