自从高校扩招以来,各高校学生人数激增,学校基础设施、师资力量严重不足,英语这门语言课也不一例外地变成了大班教学。Penny.Ur(1996)在他所做的研究中认为:大班众多学生的不同经历、多样意见、广泛兴趣和开阔思路,都可为课堂的交互活动提供更多的资源,从而使大班教学更具挑战性和趣味性。但笔者发现扩招后大班英语课堂上学生不配合及课堂沉默现象却增多了,使得教师的教学效果甚微。笔者通过对学生的问卷调查和访谈结果的分析,总结出大学英语课堂上造成沉默现象的几种原因,并根据当前现状提出几点可行性措施,以使英语大班课教学收到良好的效果。
Since the expansion of enrollment in colleges and universities, the number of students in various colleges and universities has surged, and the infrastructure and faculty resources of schools have been seriously inadequate. The English language course has not been turned into a large class teaching. Penny.Ur (1996) believes in his research that the different experiences, diverse opinions, broad interests, and open mindedness of large classes of students can provide more resources for interactive activities in the classroom, so that large classes can be taught more. However, the author finds that students’ non-cooperation and classroom silence in the large class English class after the enrollment expansion have increased, making the teacher’s teaching effect little. By analyzing the students’ questionnaire survey and interview results, the author summarizes several causes of silence in college English classes and proposes several feasible measures based on the current status, so that English large class teaching can receive good results.
