In a hundred years, the twentieth century is about to become history. We were invited to host this historic section of “Observers.” Since the transformation of Chinese sculpture in the early nineties, the sculpture industry has undergone tremendous changes. Especially in the eight years since the first “Invitation Exhibition of Contemporary Youth Sculptors” in 1992, not only various sculptures have become more and more frequent, but most importantly, the sculpture industry has got rid of the pursuit of painting during the ’85 Art Movement period and made it clear Owing to their own independent identities, they have raised their awareness of problems and their academic awareness so that the sculptures alone can undertake the task of art exploration when painting circles have lost their points. At the same time, more and more critics are involved in the exhibition, research and commentary of sculptures to promote the prosperity of sculpture creation. However, in recent years, as China has become more integrated into the world, the reality of globalization has brought us new problems. The social, cultural and international contexts it brings bring not only new choices for artists (sculptors), but also a new perspective for us to re-examine the course of Chinese art in the twentieth century and the Chinese art The issue of modernity has made it possible. It is under such circumstances that the “Invitation Exhibition for Contemporary Youth Sculptures (Second Round)” featuring the theme of “Conflict and Choice” was curated by the China Academy of Art and Shenzhen Sculpture Institute and invited over 20 national A group of critics and sculptors, together with seventy-five exhibitors, discussed the current status of Chinese contemporary sculpture and its possible future. Here is published some of the results of this seminar.
