In the early 1950s, the economy of the western developed capitalist countries generally returned to pre-war levels. Since about 1953, the economies of all countries began to grow at a rapid rate and entered the so-called golden age. Its economic prosperity has been unprecedented for a long time Some bourgeois economists have argued that capitalism has undergone a qualitative change and can thus forever get rid of the crisis. However, in the 1970s, especially in the “oil shock” of 1973-1974, the West countries were in a serious economic crisis. After the crisis, the economic recovery was weak and accompanied by severe inflation, economic prosperity was replaced by economic stagnation. Understanding this major change in the postwar capitalist economy is of great importance for us to deeply understand contemporary imperialism and to analyze and judge the trend of changes in world political relations.
