The basal diet was made by mixing 40% cottonseed meal-based protein source, and 0.00%, 0.14%, 0.28%, 0.42% and 0.56% methionine were added into them respectively (0.00% Met, 0.14% Met and 0.28% Met , 0.42% Met and 0.56% Met). Five kinds of isonitrogenous experimental diets were prepared. The whole fishmeal group (64.4% fishmeal) was used as a control. The effects of methionine supplementation on cottonseed Crab consumption (0.39 ± 0.02) g, growth rate and body antioxidant enzyme activity. The results showed that there was no significant difference in weight gain rate, specific growth rate and feed coefficient between 0.42% Met group and 0.42% Met group (P> 0.05), but significantly higher than 0.00% Met, 0.14% Met and 0.28 % Met group (P <0.05). The weight gain rate and specific growth rate were significantly higher than that of 0.56% Met group (P <0.05). From the feed intake and protein deposition rate of crabs, 0.42% Met and 0.28% Met The food consumption of the control group was similar to that of the control group. When the supplementation of methionine was less than 0.28% or higher than 0.42%, the intake of juvenile crab decreased. The statistics showed that the protein deposition rate of the control group was the highest (23.20%), There were no significant differences in protein deposition rates between 0.28% Met and 0.42% Met groups (P> 0.05), but significantly higher than 0.00% Met, 0.14% Met and 0.56% Met groups (P <0.05) The intestinal trypsin activity of juvenile crabs was analyzed and found that there was no significant difference between 0.42% Met group and control group (P> 0.05) The contents of malondialdehyde, superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase in the groups of 0.42% Met and 0.56% Met were not significantly different from those in the control group (P> 0.05). The results suggested that supplementation of 0.42% Met in basal diet with high proportion of plant protein (40% cottonseed meal) could significantly increase the growth, digestibility and antioxidant enzyme activity of crab crab.
