In early 2008, a disability-related event with athletic performance comparable to that of a healthy person attracted the world’s attention: a 21-year-old South African disabled athlete Oscar Pistorius pleaded guilty to a 400-meter race for the Beijing Olympics. Athletics Federation declined.
