严煤,生于1945年2月,湖北孝感人。现任华中农业大学理学院教授、湖北省社会主义学院兼职教授、湖北省化学研究院兼职教授;湖北省人大常委会委员、湖北省人大人事任免和代表选举委员会委员;民革中央委员、民革中央经济委员会委员、民革湖北省副主委、民革湖北省参政议政领导小组常务副组长、民革湖北省祖国统一委员会主任委员等等。曾获中宣部等三部委“全国科普先进工作者”、农业部“全国科技扶贫先进工作者”、国家教委“全国高校实验室工作专家”、民革中央“全国优秀党员”、湖北省“优秀教师典型”、湖北省“教学管理先进工作者”、华中农业大学“教学质量优秀一等奖”和“关心共青团工作奖”等30多种光荣称号和奖励。2006年被评为优秀省人大代表。
