崔景贵在《教育研究》2004年第7期上撰文谈到,在心理教育中,简单地认定人性的善或恶已经没有多大的理论价值或实践意义,这就要求我们实现人性研究视野的新的转换;有学者提出对人性的积极定向与消极定向之说,具有一定的启发性。对人性的积极定向与消极定向并不分别等同于性善论与性恶论,它们只是看待人性世界的两种根本不同的方式。教育者看待受教育者的人性定向不同, 就可能采用不同的教育策略和方式。面对同一受教育者,对人性持积极定向的教育者,首先或主要关注受教育者身上潜在的或现实的美好倾向;对人性持消极定向的教育者,总是习惯于首先或主要关注受教育者潜在的或现实的罪恶倾向。
