The Old Man and The Sea was translated by Eileen Chang in 1952, the year when Hemingway’s master piece was published. The first version as it was , Eileen’s translation of The Old Man and The Sea did not catch the eye of the majority at the time. This thesis takes Eileen’s translation of The Old Man and The Sea as the topic focus, alongside in comparison with the versions of Wu and Hai—the most representative and the most common ones in mainland China.Through thorough analysis and contrast of the three versions, the thesis is aimed at the studies of the outflow of emotions of the translator.
