中小学生有强烈的求知欲望,在他们完成课堂学习任务的前提下,把课外阅读活动开展起来,对于帮助他们树立共产主义的理想,培养高尚的情操,开阔视野、激发探索科学奥秘的欲望,都是大有裨益的。现在全国出了不少适合青少年阅读的书籍和报刊,为学生的课外阅读提供了有利的条件。可是,为数众多的学生除了课本以外,报刊和有关书籍从来不看。他们上课听讲,课外做作业,没有自由支配的时间;也有一部份学生即使课外有时问,也不用在读书上,或贪于玩耍,或缠于家务。
