The origin of garlic was in Central Asia. The Silk Road, which was later passed through ancient land trade, was spread all over the world. It is said that in ancient Egypt 4,000 years ago garlic had been grown and paid as wages to the farmer. Ancient Greece and Rome have also made good use of garlic. Only because of its strong odor, it is considered taboo in sacred places such as temples, but due to the fact that food can increase endurance, the rulers widely allow soldiers and slaves to eat. For example, the Japanese explorers who dive into the enemy during the Warring States period often used garlic to increase their endurance.
