The volatile components of coal, in addition to a small amount of non-flammable gases such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, etc., mainly combustible gases such as carbon monoxide, hydrogen, hydrogen sulfide and some hydrocarbons. As a result, volatiles can easily ignite and burn. Volatile Ignition of the unheated part of the coal will be heated intensely, prompting it to quickly fire burning. Therefore, the ignition temperature of high volatile pulverized coal is low, about 800 ℃, while the low volatile pulverized coal ignition temperature is high, may reach 1100 ℃. This shows that volatiles have a great impact on the ignition temperature of coal, but also affect the complete combustion of the fuel, so the volatile content is an important characteristic of the fuel combustion. It is closely related to the design of the burner, the choice of fineness of pulverized coal, the determination of the primary wind rate, and the explosion protection of the pulverizing system. At present volatility has been classified as one of the main basis for the coal species.
