摘要:本文对主谓一致常见的3种特殊情况进行举例分析,旨在帮助同学们能更好更透彻地学习这一语法知识点。

英语主谓一致是指谓语动词与主语在人称和数方面必须保持一致。主谓语的一致关系通常遵循三个原则,即语法一致,概念一致和就近一致。按理说,它是一个极为简单的原则,但在实践应用中有时却容易弄错或使人感到把握不定。本文就这方面问题的3种情况,综观诸位语法学家的论述,结合教学的实践,作些粗浅的分析,供广大英语学习者参考。
一、由and连接两个名词或代词(A&B)作主语时,分以下三种情况:
1.A、B表示不同的人、物或观念时,谓语动词要用复数形式。
①Li Tao and Zhang Li are good students.
②Both the parents and the children are here.
2. and连接几个单数主语或主语由each, every, no, many a等词修饰时,谓语动词要用单数形式。
①Each girl and each boy has a chance to ask a question.
②No parent and child was late for the sports meeting.
③Every girl and every boy studying here is getting along well with me.
3.A、B表示同一个人、物或观念时,谓语动词要用单数形式。
①A lawyer and teacher was hit by a big stone.
②The manager and writer is good at lying.
③Pancake and egg is delicious.
常见:love and hate爱恨情仇; war and peace战争与和平; egg and rice蛋炒饭; ham and eggs火腿蛋; steam and bread馒头; law and order治安; bread and butter涂有黄油的面包; folk and knife刀叉; wheel and axle轮轴; needle and thread针线
二、就远原则
主语,+as well as+另一个主语,谓语动词的单复数取决于第一个主语的名词的单复数。
①Mike, as well as many other boys, likes playing football after class.
②His parents rather than he were hurt by a car.
③The students together with a teacher like the song.
常见:with/together with…/along with…和…一起; including…包括; in addition to…除了……之外; besides…此外; except…除了; as much as…和…一样多; accompanied by…陪同; rather than…而不是
三、the+adj.表示一类人时, 谓语动词用复数; 表示抽象概念时, 谓语动词用单数。
①The sick have been cured and the lost have been found.
②The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
常见:the dumb/innocent/blind/young/old/living/aged/injured…
③The beautiful is not always the good, and the good is not always the true.
④The best is yet to come.
常见:the true/good/beautiful/right/wrong/impossible/new/old/unknown…
提醒:the old可表示“老人”和“旧事物”, the good可表示“好事”和“好人”,根据句意确定谓语形式。
①The old are treated politely in this area.
②The old is replaced by the new.
③The good they have done for me is beyond measure.
④Only the good die young.
